Re: Sibelius is unusable on Mac
Interesting. Other than needing at least 8GB of ram, Sibelius doesn't really need a powerful computer. It is not graphics intensive, so on board gpu should be fine. Is your Mac an all-in-one unit,or a tower that hooks up the display? I wouldn't claim to know enough about a Mac to know how, if the d...

Re: Sibelius is unusable on Mac
All I can say is that three are plenty of Mac users that run Sibelius with very few problems. There has been comment that very large scores run slower on a Mac. And the running with the Inspector open can slow down a Mac. Other than that, I might suggest restarting your Mac before using Sibelius. I...

Sibelius is unusable on Mac
Hi, I've been using Sibelius since version 4. I've always been a Mac user. Back in the Sibelius 7 days Sibelius got so slow and sluggish on Mac OS I switched to Windows. It works way faster on Windows and I have been using it quite happily like that for a few years. I recently switched back to the M...

External sound card
Hi fellow Sibelius users, I've been using sibelius 6 for a long time now, and I'm very pleased. I've come to a point now where my notebook's internal soundcard (IDT) can't handle the large amount of instruments anymore. Another problem: When inputting notes with my midi keyboard, there's a huge lag,...

Oh boy, you're gonna be on a learning curve! :D 1) a sound library is a collection of sounds, often but not always, built into a 'virtual instrument', or VSTi for short for most people. If it isn't built into one, then it will use one of the available VSTi players, like Kontakt. 2) you buy and inst...

There is no bowed vibraphone in Essentials, so you won't get anything other than the standard Vibes sound. You'd have to find the sound in another sound library - if it even appears in one, that is - and then buy it, install it and set it up to work. There may be some synth sounds in some libraries...

Bowed vibraphone
Hi there. I've been trying to get "bowed" vibrahpone (virbraphone played with a cello bow) to work, but no luck. I'm using sibelius 6 with sound essentials. I've tried to use "acro" and "bowed", and even the upbow and downbow symbols, but none of them seem to produce the needed sound, just the regul...
