there doesn't seem to be a way to move a note one half step up - not with the mouse, and not with a key command, if the target note is non-diatonic.. There is a downloadable plug-in which moves notes chromatically, and it can be given its own keyboard shortcut (so you can do it with a keypress). ht...

Re: shame shame shame
isn't it ridiculuos that such-a-big-piece-of-software that sibelius is doesn't have built in possibility to loop any selection with just a single mouse click? Sibelius isn't a sequencer. There are plug-ins which allow you to audition a section over and over, but if you really want to work with loop...

Re: Change Tempo in Sibelius 4.15
i also tried adding a metronome mark, but thats only text, it wont speed up anything..!! If it's in the form q = 80 (or whatever, where q = quarter/crotchet) in Metronome or Tempo text style it will alter the basic tempo. Using the tempo slider will then take that as the 'middle' tempo and increase...

Re: Ways to move a note horizontally
If all I want is to change the position of one note, to make a slight change to the rhythm of the melody? Do I have to erase the note and insert a new one for each change I want to try out? When Picasso wanted to shift someone's nose a few centimeters to the left, he had to erase what was there and...

Re: Ways to move a note horizontally
. . . alter the actual position of the note in the timeline - not only offset it's display.... Sorry for the confusion. There are some plug-ins on the Sibelius Downloads page which allow you to insert a note, or a rest, somewhere in a bar. Everything then moves along (and some notes may then fall o...

Re: Ways to move a note horizontally
Are there any simple key commands for this . . . If you drag a note with the mouse or select a note and use Shift+Alt+Left (or right) the note will move. But all the notes around and above will move too. If that's not what you want (i.e. you want to move just one note and none of the others) select...

Re: Create a score without barlines?
I'm doing a contemporary piece that doesn't require barlines . . . Try a search for barlines on this forum — there are a few posts about this, and here are a few links to start you off: http://www.sibeliusforum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4541&highlight=barlines http://www.sibeliusforum.com/forums/v...

Re: all barlines invisible/no time sig
. . . make the all barlines invisible . . . House Styles > Engraving Rules > Barlines >Default barline type > Invisible . . . a way to make it so a piece is totally lacking a time signature . . . You can make a long time signature (say 24/4) and then use Plugins > Composing tools > Draw Free Rhythm...

This was an issue with one of the earlier versions of Sibelius 6 which, I seem to remember, only affected Macs. I have Version 6.2 (actually 6.2.0) which is shown on the splash screen and which I can also see if I click on About Sibelius 6 in Sibelius's Help menu. If you have an earlier version numb...

Re: non-interpretive playback
The level of dynamics can be edited in Play > Dictionary. That way you can have some differences between dynamics without making too great a contrast or straining your ears.zopatow wrote: Sometimes playback will render pianos, pianissimos and the like in an almost inaudible manner.

Re: How do I import new accidentals?
I am not sure where to unzip the files . . . Install the files as you would any other file. Once you have done that, you need to decide how to use them. You can use House Styles > Edit Symbols > Music Fonts to add this font. Click on a similar font (e.g. Special Symbols ) then New ; give it a name ...
