Using an X instead of a note...

Sibelius beginners can discuss all things Sibelius here ("how do I...?").

Hi,
You know how in music notation, on a vocal line, they use an X in place of notes when the lyrics are spoken in rhythm, instead of sung? Anyone know how I can insert that X in my vocal line? I thought I found the X on the keypad until I realized it meant double sharp.
Thanks for any help!
Tom

Sure. It's called an x notehead. But how you get to it is different in different versions of Sibelius. Look up Noteheads in your manual. Or tell us what version of Sibelius you have.

"Notehead"!! I should have known. I'll look it up. Also, my version of Sibelius is 7.5. Thanks so much! --Tom

Hi Tom,

To change the notehead of your music, select a note or passage and open the Notations, Noteheads, click on the drop-down gallery. When you've chosen a notehead type, you can click the top part of the button to apply the last-chosen notehead again. The 'x' is at the top.

Regards, Karl
