Sibeleius Sound vs. Garritan JABB3
Hey all, I just switch over from Finale.
I downloaded my crossgrade and I see 23Gb of "Sebelius Sounds" for download. I have JABB3 on disc. I'm wondering if I should bother with the giant download. Do I need the Sebelius Sounds to get all the orchestral instruments?
I've started the program and watching tutorials. My install makes piano sound.. maybe that's just GM midi.

I believe that any sounds you use with Sibelius will follow dynamics in the score. As well as hairpins. I've never used other sounds with Sibelius. But, for example, in the violin section you can control whether there is vibrato, lagato, lagato release, attack and much more. Plus full orchestra or chamber orchestra. And more. Jazz and marching band, also.

Ok, thanks. I will try them out. I have used Finale, which sounds decent and a good notch better with JABB. A while back I ran Sib trial version and it didn't sound so good, but there's so many things that are wildly better than Finale, I made the switch. Thanks for your help.

The trial version uses GM sounds. It's mainly just to see if you like the UI.
Glad you made the move to Sibelius. Personally, I've never heard anything produced by Finale that sounds as good as Sibelius can.
