Sibelius beginners can discuss all things Sibelius here ("how do I...?").

I am thinking of transcribing Bass parts from my fave songs and before purchasing Sibelius I need some information on the following.

I know you can have notation & bass tab in the same piece but is it possible to say add tab for only the bits you cant remember how to play rather than having it 'On' for the whole piece

Looks like this may be possible in Sibelius, though not really a 'feature'. By adding Ossia (alternative) staffs above an otherwise empty bass tab part and then hiding the empty staves I came up with the following (trivial) example:

Any good?

It was a little fiddly, but this Zotrim article only took a minute or two (as I recall) in the end. Definitely a workaround type of thing, maybe Avid will take notice if you (and enough others) post this issue on the 'official' Sibelius forum - unilkely they'll look in here.

I suppose another way would be insert the tab section as an image file, something I've avoided till now.
I was wondering about the same thing. That looks good KJ, but how difficult is this to perform? I wish they'd make this a full feature.

It's probably much easier just to have the staff in from the beginning and use Hide Empty Staves to hide the bits with no music. Remember, every time you add a new ossia, you are adding a new hidden staff anyway
