Dea Friends,
I created a file in Sib3 and e-mailed it to someone with only Finale... sigh...
Finale can't read it. What's a simple solution?
File conversion
I'm not sure there is a simple solution. You can export as a MIDI file from Sibelius (File > Export > MIDI)and send that, but much detail of dynamics and articulation will be lost when Finale reads it.Peter123 wrote:a simple solution?
There is a plug-in you can buy (Dolet from http://www.recordare.com) which will allow you to send Sibelius files to Finale, and if you mean to exchange files a lot this is a sensible way to go.
Finale-to-Sibelius is more possible, though not without problems. But you can read and hear Finale files by downloading the free version of Finale (Finale Notebook). It doesn't do all that much as a notation program, but will play back Finale files.

Finale can't read Sibelius files. If printing is all that's needed, why not send a PDF file to your friend? You can make a PDF using the 'Save as PDF' button in the File > Print dialog on Mac, or if you're using Windows, install a free PDF creator, e.g. www.pdf995.com.
