I meant open the Sib 6 file in Sib 7. Sometimes this strips out problems. Those files are on your computer. I don't know how to find them on a Mac.

More later

I don't have any Sibelius 6 files on this computer. Should I import them from my old laptop? Just by opening them it will solve the problem?

Sorry, I had to leave.
The two files for deletion are in the user library.

~/Library/Application Support/Avid/Sibelius 7/PlogueEngine/
~/Library/Application Support/Avid/Sibelius 7/PlaybackConfig.xml

Also try this.
With 7.5 open go to the play tab. On the far left is playback configuration. Select the little arrow. This opens the playback devices window. Select the Audio Engine Options button and try selecting a different audio driver from the pull down menu

I will try these things tomorrow. It sounds a little scary since I would have no idea what an audio driver is.... :?

Crashing on saving often isn't a Sibelius issue per se, Other non-compatible apps can cause this. Audio Hijack Pro springs to mind. have you got this on your system? If so, get rid of it and see what happens.

I don't know what Audio Hijack Pro is. Would it be on my MAC from the factory? The only apps I have put on my computer since buying it is Sibelius. The computer is less than a year old and has never crashed before.

Well the good news is that once I was able to finally register my Sibelius I received 90 days of tech support. I called and they did a remote takeover of my computer. First they went in and deleted things then they looked for any trills in the string part. After going in the "dictionary" and changing something to do with the trills, it now works. So far it hasn't crashed on me but we will see! I suggested to them that they let people know when upgrading that there is this problem so that they can get help with it right away.

Thanks for your post. I was wondering how you were doing.
Letting us know how you got things resolved will help others. I suspect that the files they deleted were the ones I suggested. However, I have never heard of trills being a problem. So we all learned something.
Good luck.

Computer is still crashing which is really frustrating. Even though I hit "save" every three minutes, when it crashes I lose all changes. So now I have been doing "save as" and creating copies so when it crashes I can open up one from 15 minutes earlier and not lose hours of work, just 15 minutes. Hopefully I can get this resolved soon.

Did you ever repair disk permissions?

Today we ran a repair app on the computer but I haven't opened Sibelius yet to try it. I will keep you posted.

Playback problems with Sibelius 7.5 on big scores (I am in the middle of composing an opera) are so annoying that I consider seriously change to Finale after many many years of using Sibelius.
I cannot understand why Avid do not supply clear answers to us, composers who are struggling with those problems and losing our time to solve it!

Complaining here on this unoffical, and rather quiet, forum won't help, I'm afraid.

If you give details of the issues you're having, with details of your computer, soundcard, operating system etc on the official Sibelius chat pages, then you'll get some response from the members there - in fact you'll almost certainly find that the problems have been discussed before, so a search may well bring up the answers you need.

But I have to agree about Avid's appalling bad customer service - they leave it to the hardy bunch of experts on the official site.

As for jumping ship to Finale, I'd caution you against it. From what I hear, their support isn't that much better!
