When I upgraded to Sibelius 8 a year ago, I left my copy of v7.1.3 in place in case I needed the older version.
I'm finding that I don't need the older version, so it's time to uninstall it. Are there any precautions I should take to prevent damage to the newer version (now v8.5)? Or is just a case of uninstalling the older version like any other software?
Uninstalling extra version of Sibelius
A proper uninstall of the earlier version should not affect the later version at all. However, unless you are desperately short of hard drive space, I'd personally leave it alone. I've still got 6.2 here alongside 7.13. When I 're-do' the system, I'll just install 7.13 but until then, 6.2 can stay.
You could always deactivate both versions prior to uninstalling 7.13, and if the worst should come to the worst, you can simply reinstall 8 and reactivate.

Good point. Especially as I redid my system not many years ago, and I've still got tons of space remaining on my data drive. And hard drive space is even cheaper now than it was when I rebuilt my system. My new backup drive is four times the size of my machine's hard drive.
Thanks for being the voice of reason. One can get carried away wit cleaning up a system. Sometimes it really isn't necessary.
