Hi,
I have a passage of music that's written in alternating 4/4 and 9/8 time signatures-- maybe about 16 bars. I wrote it out in this way to make it easier for me to see the patterns, as they change slightly from one to another. There are no tuplets. For the final score (piano), I want to just notate the whole thing in 4/4 instead of mixing with 9/8. Is there a way to have Sibelius (7.5) re-notate my music to 4/4? I tried selecting all the measures and changing it to 4/4, but that doesn't seem to work. I recall there may have been a 3rd-party plugin, but I can't seem to find it.

Thanks for any advice.

replying to my own post here-- maybe someone's trying to accomplish the same thing. I ended up exporting the .sib file as MIDI, then importing it into another application (Logic Pro), then exporting it back out. When I imported it back, the time signature was set to 4/4 (what I wanted) and the rhythms were preserved. There were a few overlaps I needed to correct. I little more work than I hoped for, but mission accomplished.

There are very few folks answering questions here, any more. I'm surprised your solution worked. Looks like some data was lost int the transfer. Lucky for you.

There probably is a way to do what you want in Sibelius. Someone will look if they have the time.

Filter for time signatures and delete them all. Say no if asked about re-writing. Then insert a new 4/4 TS at the start and say yes when asked about re-writing. Caution - do it using the "More options" at the bottom of the list.

I'm very confused about this request.
A bar of 4/4 contains 8 eighth notes of equal length. 4/4 = 8/8 = 16/16, etc.
A bar of 9/8 contains 9 eighth notes of equal length and, without changing the metronome mark, will last longer than a 4/4 bar.
Is this a request for how to notate a tuple of 9:8 in a 4/4 bar?
Can someone explain or give an example of what is wanted, please?
