I'm using Photoscore Ultimate 6 and trying to scan from The Real Book 6th edition. I've been through all the handwritten examples with no success. When using the 'printed music' option, the best setting is custom 600 dpi but there are a lot of mistakes. Is there any workaround?

PS is certainly a mixed bag. I've seen it render fax copies surprisingly well. And perfect PDFs poorly. Perhaps you could post a screen shot of your results.
