Hi all.
So admittedly I am quite the beginner when it comes to transcribing vocals, including adding lyrics below the notes of the vocal melody…
Having said that, how do I create a "dash" symbol between syllables? (could someone also please tell me what this symbol is called in this context- is it an "elision", or something else)?
I tried typing a dash symbols in after the first syllables where needed then pressing enter, but the results weren't what I intended; instead of being in the center of the two words (vertically speaking), the "dashes" come out at the top, and are also "wavy" looking (which may be hard to see, but trust me, they are!)
Maybe I need to adjust the settings of the "dashes"…?
Cheers.

Hi Bob.
That is precisely the key that I am using.
I now realize that a dash is simply a longer version of a hyphen, and has a different purpose in punctuation. It is in fact the hyphen next to the 0 key that I am already using.
Cheers.
