Multiple superimposed tempi and time signatures

Is there a way to have different instruments in different time signatures which are playing at different tempi? Such as in the Elliott Carter string quartets. So the hardliners won’t match up and they won’t be the same length. Is there a way to do this? It would be much easier than writing out by hand.
