I downloaded an .mxl file and imported it to Sib 8.7.2 (MacOS 10.13.2). It has tempo text Largo at the start. When I playback, it plays too fast. The Transport window tempo does slow it down. I appended q = 40 after Largo, and experimented with changing that value higher and lower, but that doesn't have any effect. I disabled Live Tempo and Live Playback. I can't determine why the tempo text doesn't control the tempo. I'm attaching the .sib file. Thanks for any insight.

Without sight of the score,it is difficult to see what is going wrong.

Thanks for the reply. I tried to upload the .sib file, but got the error "The extension sib is not allowed." So I uploaded the file to Dropbox; see https://www.dropbox.com/s/yx0ypiyi0ga1f ... o.sib?dl=0

As I thought, you have used non system text for the opening tempo mark. You need to use tempo text [ctrl/cmd][alt]t (or use the rt-cik menu Text-->Tempo).
