This is the first time I want to play back hidden notes in Voice 2 since upgrading to the most recent Ultimate 2023.5 version, and they no longer play back! Has anyone else run into this problem?
Unfortunately, it appears I can't attach an simple example, but it's easy easy to test it yourself. If I'm now doing something wrong or missing a new setting (which I don't think I am), please let me know if you can get it to work and how you did.
Thanks!
Hidden Notes No Longer Playing Back!
Sorry, I can't help, I'm still on Sibelius 7.5 and don't intend to upgrade anytime soon. It's gone very quiet on this forum lately, and I only check once a week or so nowadays, but others may be able to answer you if/when they see this. You could try attaching your example by wrapping it up as .zip or .rar file, these filetypes are accepted here I believe.
You should have more luck on the official Avid forum:

To be specific (for anyone googling it), this option is located under Play > Performance > Hidden Items. The checkbox is called "Play back hidden notes", and should be checked if you indeed want hidden notes to be heard (say for Harp playback, or similar). It is a per-score setting, rather than global.
I believe it was added in conjunction with the new hidden note functionality as of 2023.5, which is very handy indeed. Scoring Notes has a large write-up located here: https://www.scoringnotes.com/reviews/sibelius-2023-5/, though it would appear that this particular item was omitted from their overview.

Just a thought, but it is possible to modify the "built-in " templates to have this setting checked, or to set up a template of your own so that when you start a new score you don't have to worry about it.
