No playback through my amplifier

I get playback on my MacStudio, but only through its speakers. I regularly play music from my MacStudio through an HDMI cable to my Marantz Cinema 60. So, I know the connections are good. I’ve tried everything I could think of and am unable to resolve this. Is there an extra step I need to take to get playback to go through an amplifier?
