Trying to figure out how to create a bar with the time signature 3/4+1/8 on a MacBook. Is it at all possible in Sibelius 6?

Hi,

There is no easy way to do this (I'm pretty certain), it's pretty much
the same as Sibelius 7. You have to input the music using whatever
value you need (for example 3/4 + 1/8 would be 7/8), then go back and
put in a time signature of 3/4 (in the time signature box you must deselect rewriting the music in the new time signature). Lastly you have to
select time-signatures from the text menue-special text and write in 1/8 next to the 3/4 (obviously you need to create space for that. Type the 1, press return and type the 8 and add the +).

Well, I think that's the answer.

I don't know where that smiley face came from. Obviously I meant 7/8!!

In Sibelius 7.5, you could also use composite symbols to create complex time signatures, i.e. 5/4+1/8, etc. Hide the real time signature, make a composite symbol, place as system symbol on all staves (if required), and manually shift the first note in the bar to make space for the extra width. I used only the simple symbols available ("+" being a "shake"), so did not have to futz with fonts.
