Hi guys. I have asked this question before and whilst I received some helpful advice on the topic it is still causing me trouble.
I want to be able to set which key affects which part of the stave when inputting notes by simply typing a letter (rather than clicking the line/space where I want the note to be placed).
For example when creating drum scores on a single voice, I want to be able to hit the F key in order to place a note in the bottom space of the stave, then hit the G key to place a note between the top line of the stave and the first ledger line above the stave.
The problem with this is that Sibelius will automatically place the G on the second line from the bottom of the stave next to the F.
Another problem is that if I click into an empty bar and input, for example, F, with the intention of creating the note F in the bottom space of the stave, the note will automatically be placed on the top line of stave.
None of this would be a problem if I could just create my own shortcuts for note input. I could assign my own shortcuts to allow me to input a note exactly where I want it.
Anyone have any idea how I might achieve this? I have had a look in Sibelius 6 > preferences > menus and shortcuts > create but there is no option to help me with what I am after.
Perhaps a plug-in might be in order… any idea which one would do this job?
If there isn't one available, how might I go about making one? Any info on how to do this would be great as I really want this issue fixed- it would speed up my drum score writing enormously!
I have never made a plug in for Sibelius but I would learn how in order to get this sorted!
Cheers.
If my question isn't clear then I could post an example to clarify.

If the note isn't on the line/space that you want when you input it, then just hit Ctrl plus the up or down arrow to move it an octave. I don't think there is any other way. In terms of slowing down the workflow, the extra key strokes involved shouldn't do much. I just tried it: F - G - Ctrl+up arrow. Done in no appreciable time.

Whilst assigning hot keys to the different lines on the stave would be best, you have provided the next best thing!
Thank you once again, Andy. Very useful.
