Hi,
Most standard drum kit notation uses a cross within a circle notehead on the 1st ledger line above the stave. However, you can only get the circle around the cross notehead if you use a minim or a semi-breve, so for example, this makes it impossible to enter a crash cymbal on beat 4! (or any other beat where a minim would stretch into the next bar!)
Anyone know how to solve this?
Thanks

Crash Cymbal Notation?
In Sibelius that sound is, by default, made with Notehead 1. If you use a note shorter than a minim it uses the cross without the circle, so that you can identify the length of the note.Toaster wrote: you can only get the circle around the cross notehead if you use a minim or a semi-breve
If you really want there to be a circle on crotchets and smaller, you can use House Styles > Edit Noteheads , click on Notehead 1, then Edit, then on the Quarter Note symbol and, finally, Change Symbol.
