Simplest way is to turn on Hide Empty Staves , under Layout > Hiding Staves, or Ctrl + Alt + Shift + H.

You need to make sure the bass bars for single treble clef are indeed empty of notes etc, and on separate lines from the treble/bass lines.

Another tip: always save your (important) scores in another format as well as your main version. It's an extra step (or three) but I always export mine to Sib 6, Sib 7 and music xml. That way you're covered and can share easily if something goes wrong, or you switch or use another software.
