Re: controlling dynamics
I suppose the simplistic way would be to add the dynamic markings in the bars you want them, before and after. Select a note, CMD E. Select the dynamic using a right mouse click (or CMD ff, p or f or whatever). Escape when done. The dynamics should play back 'correctly' (according to Sibelius). You ...

Re: writting notes without a staff
You can 'hide' the staff lines by selecting your whole instrument staff (double/triple click the staff), then going to: Home > Press the 'Edit Instruments' arrow next to Instruments > Make sure the correct instrument is highlighted in the Instruments box > Edit Instrument > Edit Staff Type... > Chan...

Re: Can't change instrument name
Sibelius First is full of restrictions. Not 100% sure that renaming instruments is one, but it would hardly be a surprise. For fewer restrictions you'll have to pay to upgrade, the other (paid) tiers these days I believe are Sibelius Artist and Ultimate. Either that or try a less (or un-) restricted...

Re: Playback has extra beat after time signature change
Probably a typo but Ctrl+Alt+T is for adding a tempo mark. Use just T to change the time signature. It would be best to turn off Show Mutirests (Ctrl+Shift+M) before changing time signatures. By the looks of it you want just one bar of 2/4 before switching back to 4/4. At bar 16 seems you've ended u...

Maybe unclick Play on Pass for the repeats in the Inspector (Ctrl Shift I) for these bars. Not quite sure I understand though...

Re: Automatic jump to score start
If you mean the playback starts from the beginning, you probably want to adjust the Score Position options under Preferences. Something like Tick: During Input and Editing > Follow Selection and/or During Play and Flexi-time > Follow playback line. If you mean something else, please elaborate. Plus,...

Re: Exported mp3 format size
I think the only option within Sibelius is to use a lower bitrate if possible, which should lessen the file size by a corresponding factor (as well as the audio quality). If you could export as a single mono channel that would also halve the file size, but I don't think that option is available from...

Re: Unexpected Volume Change
Unfortunately I couldn't open the file you attached when I unzipped it. Says it was created in a newer version of Sibelius 7.5.1, even though I do have 7.5.1. Perhaps someone else here can take a look, or you can try on the official community pages at Avid.com. Obviously this is probably the first s...

Re: Question about Playback...
The easiest way is to open the Mixer (Panels > Mixer = Tick) and slide the volume down to zero for any instruments you don't want to hear. Make a note of the initial volume to go back, or undo to reset it. You could also press the M button in the Mixer to Mute the instrument, though I never really u...

Re: Hidden Notes No Longer Playing Back!
Ah, glad you sorted it out and it was something straightforward, though admittedly an annoying 'new feature'. The Avid developers must have been taking lessons from Bill Gates!

Re: Hidden Notes No Longer Playing Back!
Sorry, I can't help, I'm still on Sibelius 7.5 and don't intend to upgrade anytime soon. It's gone very quiet on this forum lately, and I only check once a week or so nowadays, but others may be able to answer you if/when they see this. You could try attaching your example by wrapping it up as .zip ...

You probably have Panorama view set. Press Shift P to toggle back to page view.

Re: moving the bottom staff
Sorry, still can't see the image. Don't know if HEIC will be recognised, best use jpg if possible. Have you clicked Place Inline in Attachments? 100Kb should be fine size-wise. Couldn't find the exact limit in FAQs, but there are images around 250Kb from other posts successfully attached. Under Layo...

Re: moving the bottom staff
Use an image processing app/tool to resize and/or save as another lower quality image type. Jpg/Jpegs are normally good enough quality to get the idea and around 800 pixels wide should be enough resolution. I normally use Paint in Windows, no idea what you have on Macs, but there should be something...

Re: assigning 2nd voice in two-part piece
Hmm, there doesn't seem to be another way, other than inputting those notes again in another voice. Not that I can find anyway, and there's no handy plugin I can see that does it. Sibelius seems to 'lock' the voices down once they've been 'tupletised', which is rather annoying here. Did a bit of Goo...
