Re: Break between bars in middle of line
Thanks again. I wouldn't actually tweak barlines before putting in any notes - only occasionally once it's finished. But I'll bear your warning in mind! I suspect I caused the problem something like the way you describe; I was working on formatting a file supplied to me as a midi, which was a bit of...

Re: Break between bars in middle of line
Thanks for your reply, but as I said, I'm using First. There is no "Inspector", as far as I'm aware. If there is no way to fix this in First, it's not a huge problem - I can just copy the notes elsewhere and delete the bars in question (either side of the gap). I just thought there might be a fix I'...

Break between bars in middle of line
I'm using Sibelius 7 First, and I'm getting the problem shown in the attachment. I don't know how it appeared, and I can't get these bars to rejoin (it's the same instrument, same piece of music, and it plays back fine). If I drag the barlines around, the break seems to pop up in other places, or si...

Re: altered guitar tuning in Sibelius First?
Somewhat late reply to this thread, but - for general information - I just discovered that Sibelius First - my current version anyway - does provide alternate guitar tunings. On the Add Instruments window, on 'Choose from' drop down menu, choose 'Rock and Pop Instruments'. All the guitars there feat...

Re: ties and repeat bars
Thanks - sorry I missed your reply while editing and then deleting my query (because I thought I'd fixed it). I tried non-magnetic ties, but they didn't work. However I did find a way that did. The problem seemed to only occur between pages, and not between bars on the same line, or between lines on...

Re: Rogue Key Signature and Clef
Thanks. I'm on Sibelius 7 First - if this happens again, can I still do what you suggest? I don't seem to have a properties window.

Re: Rogue Key Signature and Clef
I've had this (or something like it) happen in my scores occasionally. It's always down to something I did some stages earlier (with the formatting) but can never remember what! I get a clef and a brace, as if it's the start of a new line, and usually a gap between that and the previous bar (on the ...

Re: Need To Set Up Short, Separate Pieces Within A Score....
Can you explain how you're not getting the results you want? For the time sig, you need to go to More Options... and uncheck the default "allow cautionary". If you do that, does the cautionary still appear? For the key sig, it's a little different: you need to go to More Options... and check "Hide" ...

Bends on guitar
Is there a way (in Sibelius First) to prevent the second note of a bend sounding (ie remove its attack but keep its pitch)? In guitar technique, only the first note is picked, the second achieved by pushing the string sharp. Sibelius playback produces the bend nicely, but makes it sound like the sec...

Re: Dividing a Quarter Note into Thirds
For the triplet, enter the first 8th note (on beat 4) then press Ctrl+3. You should see the triplet bracket appear, and you can then enter the other two 8ths.
