Re: Create a copied (transposed) part correctly...

Further testing - mostly just so I can understand a bit more about Sibelius' internals: I created another test score: Transposing with one instrument: Horn in F (no key) One bar, one whole note: a written F. Horn Part produces perfectly - a written F. From that part, Copy and Change Instrument - to ...

Re: Create a copied (transposed) part correctly...

Sibelius has the ability to show the score (and/or parts) as either transposed or concert pitch. Check the button on the ribbon. It will tell you what the case is. I'm not sure how best to go about sorting this mess out without sight of the original sib file. May I presume to send you a copy of my ...

Re: Create a copied (transposed) part correctly...

Out of curiosity, I have to ask "Why are you writing non-transposed parts for horn in F? I'm not. The whole backstory - I'd rather not complicate the question unnecessarily - is that I've inherited a project built this way. The original, printed score shows all the instruments in their already-tran...

Create a copied (transposed) part correctly...

OK, here's a wonky one - I'm quite sure Sibelius can do this. Help! Imagine my theoretical score. It's a screaming one measure, one-note solo for Horn in F. The horn plays - wait for it... an F ! (I really can't wait for audience reaction to our first performance!) Meanwhile, the steps: I've created...

Re: How to assign passages to their correct instruments?

If you have saved the scan you can open it in PhotoScore and do the corrections there before re-sending it to Sibelius. MikeLyons, I do thank you for your input. Unfortunately, at this late stage - given the rehearsal/performance schedule, and given the post-import micro-corrections I've already do...

Re: How to assign passages to their correct instruments?

I think I'm definitely in that world of pain you describe... Staves were definitely not labeled correctly in all cases in Photoscore before send to Sibelius. These originals were a creative mess at best; inconsistent staves on each page, multiple systems on each page (sometimes), and varying abbrevi...

Re: Stave-recognition

The red vertical lines usually indicate 'no end of bar' found - if I recall correctly. Am working on a similar situation lately; scanning in a very poor-quality original. As another poster has suggested, keep experimenting with settings - this is something of a black art - until you get the most-com...

How to assign passages to their correct instruments?

Have recently managed to input a score from a hodgepodge of notes - lots of copy-paste was used, which I think is at the core of this question. Though I've got all the notes in the correct positions on the corresponding correctly-labeled staves ( again, thanks again to copy-pasting, often to/from si...

Cannot seem to disconnect a part from its score staff

Having trouble transposing a given part in situ - without modifying its line on the score ( as i understand should be a basic capability of Sibelius. ) Simply: My Bass Clarinet line is in C on the score, and most note heads fall within the ledger lines (for the sake of argument). When the part is pr...

How to: Octave transposition in a copied (magnetic) part?

My first post here. Not a total noob to Sibelius, but this feels like a noob question! Bear with me! Simply: I'm trying to arrange a Three Part piece. In the Master Score (as an example) I've arranged for Flute I, Flute II and Bass Clarinet (mostly because I have no idea how to start with only the n...
