Re: Trouble with exported PDF file from Ultimate

This sort of mess is better cleaned up by seeing the original sib file. Either zip the file and post it here or email me the sib file (address in my sig) and I'll have a look to see if I can reproduce. First thing you might try, though, is [ctrl]a, followed by [ctrl][shift]n (select all, reset note ...

Re: Sibelius 7.1.3 crashing every time I try to transpose

Have you tried running Sib in compatibility mode? Rt click the sib icon on your desktop and choose more options then troubleshoot compatibility. This will allow you to run sib in compatibility mode for earlier versions of Windows. You might have to try several different versions before you find one ...

Re: Advice please

Rt click on your desktop icon and choose compatibility from the menu. You have a number of options to choose from. I'd probably use compatibility with Vista or Win 7 if available

Re: Advice please

6.2 runs in compatibility mode on Win 11. I, too, would not give MacAfee houseroom. You can buy Sib outright, but why not take advantage of the offer to make your version current? You might find this link useful. If you have an Avid account, you should be able to get current for a much lower cost th...

Re: Time to say goodbye

Sad news, Andy. You'll be sorely missed. I often ran a little competition in my head as to who would answer a particular question first! You won, more often than not!

Happy Retirement. May it be long and fruitful. Don't be a stranger.

Re: Music XML Export and Re-import

Sibelius' xml export is quirky at best. The advice you were given to fix positions for everything was probably the best. I publish on arrangeme.com, but I don't do the note flight thing. My suggestion would be to see how note flight handles the xml file. Re-importing into sibelius is not an indicati...

Re: Help me

From your very brief description, it is difficult to find the problem. Are the voices on the same staff or on separate staves? If on the same staff, it could be that one of the voices is set to cue size notes. If they are on separate staves, it could be that one of the staves is set to a different s...

Re: The Sibelius First user guide

The user guide is a fully searchable and well indexed pdf that you can keep open in the background.
I still use it despite being a user for over 30 years.

Re: The Sibelius First user guide

That seems to say to me that the user guide is for an older version of sib first. It's confusing because there was actually a paid version of first but that was before the advent of the ribbon. It was also before the idiots at Avid messed up the naming system by imposing a series of idiotic name cha...

Re: Blue Score Markings - Tuba, Timpani

These markings are nothing to be concerned about. If you go to view-->Invisibles and untick layout marks they will disappear. They do not print, but are only there to show where the bars are marke "keep together" or show page and/or line breaks where either you or the software has forced them.

Re: Send to Sibelius greyed out

I believe they changed the system some while ago. It is, AFAIK, possible to use avid link to register your copy of sib first. You will only have first's limited functionality, but it should allow you to save, at least.

Re: Sibelius Ultimate Demo only opens to First version

Did you try "activate licence "? By activating, you get access to more functionality. You can get a free trial of ultimate that regresses to first after 30 days. If you are only doing single staff stuff, then first should be adequate., despite its limitations. Have you tried musescore? Despite the f...

Re: Send to Sibelius greyed out

Believe it or not, you can open photoscore's .opt files directly in sibelius. Of course, that would depend on you being able to save those files. You can registeryour copy of sib first and get back its functionality, but I'm not sure about the photoscore.

Re: Cannot install Sibelius Ultimate/Windows 10

1. Disable your antivirus/anti-malware software 2. Completely uninstall sibelius and make sure avid link is also gone. 3. Install sib ultimate and the sound library 4. Use avid link to activate your copy of the program 5. Restart your computer 6. Re-enable your antivirus. 7. Try running sibelius aga...

Re: Multiple separate tunes on one page so playback STOPS at the end of each tune.

No, you can't. The best you can do is make it pause between tunes. Mark the last bar of each tune as "section end" you can set roughly how long the pause lasts in the playback dialog.
