Re: Permissions problem with Double Note Values plug-in
Okay, no need to reply, I found the solution here: https://avid.secure.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/Error_Message/Unable-to-save-score-file?retURL=%2Fpkb%2Fapex%2FKB_Render_Download%3Fid%3DkA240000000L1xb%26lang%3Dja_4_2_2_1_2_2_2_1_2_13&popup=true . Whatever corrupts the preferences file in such a ...

Permissions problem with Double Note Values plug-in
I'm trying to double all the note values in a score using the Note Input -> Transformations -> Note Values -> Double plug-in. The operation fails and I get the following error message: "Unable to open score file </path/to/filename.sib> for writing". The plug-in then terminates abnormally. I have mad...

Yeah I've noticed that too... can't say I have any interest in even trying the iPad version...

Re: Annoying auto-scroll issue
Roger that. But to me, if you can't arrange the pages vertically without tickling a bug, it sounds like something is seriously broken in SIbelius, and you would think they would want to place a pretty high priority on fixing it.

Re: Keyboard shortcuts
And not all keypads, Bluetooth or wired, are guaranteed to work with Sibelius. I'm lucky. Mine does, and it was bought in a 'Poundland' store - as cheap as can be! But a bit of searching on here and the Official Sibelius forum - https://www.sibelius.com/cgi-bin/helpcenter/chat/chat.pl?groupid=3 - w...

Re: Keyboard shortcuts
Ok, thanks. Might have to invest in a Bluetooth numeric keypad then - but given the limited space I have on my computer desk, I wonder whether it will be more trouble than it's worth.

Re: Annoying auto-scroll issue
Not sure what "vertical spreads" means... if you mean, how are the pages laid out, then yes, I make Sibelius arrange them vertically so that I can use the scroll wheel to thumb through the score. I know of no way to scroll horizontally except by mousing down to the horizontal scrollbar. Is what you ...

Re: Annoying auto-scroll issue
Your signature says Ultimate and Mac. Just want to check that you're not trying to use an older version of Ultimate on Big Sur, as that will throw up all sorts of odd problems. In fact I'm still running Mojave due to needing a certain app that is not 64-bit compatible. No, I have the most recent ve...

Keyboard shortcuts
Am I not understanding the Sibelius Reference or is there a trick to getting certain keyboard shortcuts to work on a Mac? The only ones that seem to work for me are N to toggle input mode on or off, and the shift-numeric sequences to add pitches. The Reference says that note values and accidentals c...

Re: Annoying auto-scroll issue
Thanks, but if you mean deselecting "Follow Position", this does not fix the problem. The only thing it seems to do is prevent auto-scroll during input of notes, i.e. when I come to the end of a line, it doesn't take me to the next. But when I click on a note to drag it to a different pitch, or a st...

Annoying auto-scroll issue
Something I first noticed whilst working on a very large score is that when the score got to a certain size or length, it became impossible to make any edits "near the beginning" of the score (basically the first third or so) without Sibelius auto-scrolling the view to somewhere else in the score, u...

Modifying default playback characteristics: tenuto
By default, Sibelius seems to play back notes marked tenuto with a "swelling" effect. Yet that is not part of the definition of tenuto as far as I'm aware, and I'm trying to suppress it during playback. Is there any way to do this? The playback dictionary entry for tenuto doesn't seem to give the us...

Re: Tempo variations in Sibelius (also using NotePerformer)
Hi Mike, Thanks for looking at it and for your comments! Maybe it is my imagination after all... I did not try the metronome because as far as I understand it is a purely auditory clicking, which if the perceived speed variations are my imagination, then the metronome might sound to me like it's spe...

Re: Tempo variations in Sibelius (also using NotePerformer)
Hi Mike, You've seen the score... ;) (Ricercare). The only thing I added were tempo changes. All performance settings are Meccanico, and there are no tempo words or metronome markings at the places where the tempo sometimes hurries. All tempo words are in tempo text anyway. It is as if the tempo cha...

Tempo variations in Sibelius (also using NotePerformer)
Ever since introducing some changes of tempo into a piece I'm writing, I've noticed uncommanded tempo variations at odd places in the score. Usually it is just a slight rushing ahead for a beat or two, barely perceptible, but I'm pretty sure I'm not imagining things. Has anyone else heard something ...
