Re: Buying Ultimate

Mike, sorry to hear about your family issues, hopefully all is well.

My motivation is my desire to enjoy my clarinet playing and improve my understanding of my 2nd clarinet parts. Inputting them into Dorico allows me to play along and recognise the rhythms. Many of which are American Marches!!

Re: Buying Ultimate

I am over at Dorico 4 SE having a ball of a time, just finished my first piece of work. Great programme, not too difficult to get around but worth the effort.

Re: Buying Ultimate

I had similar problems moving from AutoCad to SketchUp for 3d construction design work. In the end, my years of experience on autoCad were overtaken by the sheer power of SketchUp, which also started life as a free programme.

Re: Buying Ultimate

Thanks Mike, I'm afraid the email is the first thing that goes after 30+ years of service. Its time I guess to look seriously at Dorico 4.

Buying Ultimate

I would like to buy a fully functional (NOT upgrade) Sibelius Ultimate licence for myself, as a new registered user on a perpetual licence. There are countless adverts on the net offering very confusing prices. Can anyone give me a quick answer on this, where is the cheapest re-seller/outlet for a l...

Split Bars

Is there ever an instance where a bar is split to allow the following to occur in split common time....... at the position A. There is a dotted minum at one side of the repeat bar and a quaver at the other. The bar must be split to allow this - is it?

Re: ulrimate - upgrade

I'm going to have to consider moving platforms if I want to maintain my music library. I find it a useful exercise transferring old clarinet pieces to digital for several reasons. You can listen to the audio output and improve your play, you can view the files on an iPad and this can be useful when ...

Re: ultimate - upgrade

I'm snookered! I cannot afford the move to Ultimate with my new Mac M1 processor. Are there any other reasonably priced software options that I can move to. I'm not an arranger any sort and basically, all I've used 7.5 on my sons laptop for was converting old clarinet music from band to digital to c...

Re: Opening Sibelius music

I have had to abandon Sibelius 7.5 and the short cut commands do not work under Mac OS 11.4 M1 processor.

Re: Opening Sibelius music

Your advice is welcome Mike. I will have to explore Sibelius pricing for the Mac. Reverting back to Windoze isnt an option.

On an optimistic note, where is ‘allarg’ hidden in the ribbon menu?

Re: Opening Sibelius music

Yes, Mike it is 7.5 and to be honest it seems to be running quite well but there are a few minors that annoy me. For example, the Cmd+E short cut doesn't work. I have two questions...... 1. How do I insert 'allarg.' 2. Is 'Sibelius First' anything close to 7.5 in terms of functionality? Great to be ...

Opening Sibelius music

Good morning, this is the first time I have come to the forum since May 21 and hopefully everyone has been well. I bought a new Mac mini computer to replace my MacBook and installed Sibelius. The programme has no problem running on the new Mac M1 processor but I cannot seem to open files that I crea...

Re: Bb Clarinet/Eb Alto Sax

Mike, this is great. I was practicing the 2nd clarinet part at home with no melody to help. The Alto sax part provides the melody and today I had some valuable practice. The band are receiving Queens award for services to our community. We are also performing on the day to a small audience. I want t...
