Re: Please Help!

K J P has beaten me to it. I was faced with the same bar(s) earlier this week when writing out an abridged version of Clair for a student. That's how I did it, too! :) The cross-staff notes were no real problem. Look up 'cross staff beaming' in the Reference and all will be revealed. My only 'proble...

Re: Cross beaming with divided chords.

That was the wrong link - this site's getting more weird by the day and inserted a link to itself!

Try this one - it's allowed me to post it this time.

Re: Cross beaming with divided chords.

I think I misunderstood what you were trying to do. I think you can do what you need to do by using different voices. 1 and 3 will line up, as will 2 and 4. I've not tried doing this for some time. and I think I only had to do it with crotchets and minims, so no need to hide flags on the quavers. Al...

Re: Cross beaming with divided chords.

This is called 'cross staff beaming' in Sibelius. Not sure where you're reading that in the manual, as that's not how you do it. Here's how my Sibelius 6 manual explains it (it's the only manual near this desk!) Input all the notes in one staff to start with. Then select the note or notes you want t...

Re: Audioscore Lite organ music?

Audio to Notation and Audio to MIDI are both myths, sadly. They've never worked properly and never will, even with the paid -for versions. The #1 ear and brain can analyse and hear things that no computer algorithm can. It would be wonderful if you could simply play the audio into the computer and h...

Re: Restated accidentals at every chord

I can't agree with that. I had a piece by Khachaturian, no key signature, just accidentals where needed. It was a pig to read and play. I input part of it into Sibelius and changed to the obvious key of Db. The result was something that was much more playable at first sight or rehearse-able! Call me...

Re: Move single note horizontally

Perhaps using Voices 1 and 2 instead of 1 and 3 would help. 1 and 2 are a pair, as are 3 and 4. I'd only use 1 & 3 together in exceptional circumstances.

You can shift a note using the X parameter in The Inspector.

Re: Transposed Score problems with pdf's

If you were on PC, I'd advise not to export a pdf but to use a pdf 'printer' to do the job. These are usually very reliable and efficient - not sure if you use them on Macs. You're using Ultimate but what version, and are you using Big Sur? Only the more recent versions of Ultimate are fully compati...

Re: Varying staff line widths

You've already had the question answered on the official Sibelius forum page but in case you read this one first.

No, it's not possible unless you resort to some fakery with thicker lines from the Lines menus.

Re: Dangling ties and converting to PDF

I always do what Mike suggested - use non magnetic slurs when I want a tie that is either 'odd' or is something that Sibelius won't play nicely with. They won't play back properly but you can make them look correct, which is all I need. I've always used Cute PDF for creating pdf files from all my ap...

Re: restore sibelius 7.5.1 from OS X backup. Permissions problem

Export as XML. Musescore should be able to read this OK, but expect to do some tidying up and editing, as is always the case with any type of 'import'. The latest Sibelius works fine with Big Sur, but as to when Sibelius (and some other music apps, it seems) will work OK with the new CPUs in Apples,...

Re: Sibelius Mixer Kontakt gets Ch2, Ch1 wrong, & Instruments

You won't get any different answers by asking the same questions! :(

You could ask on the official Sibelius chat pages, but I fear that the answers will be just the same - ie. you need to write a soundset file.
