You can observe and access the archive in the official forum - most of the good questions have already been asked and answered! The quickest way is often to simply Google your query, very often the result will be a link to the official forum. https://www.sibelius.com/cgi-bin/helpcenter/chat/chat.pl?...

Re: Orchestral playback to accompany choir
Playback of a suspended cymbal roll really needs a dedicated sample, not just the single hit repeated rapidly. The Sibelius Playback Dictionary assigns the Sound ID '+tremolo.unmeasured' to the 16 or 32 tremolo slash notations. If there IS a cymbal roll sample available in the soundset being used, t...

Re: Brass Band Template
Avid are perfectly aware of the potential for confusion with the re-naming of Sibelius versions. They seem sympathetic to requests to move your subscription to the version you should have bought. (Not for free, of course, but you won't have to buy the whole thing twice!) Open a support case at your ...
Re: multirest
Or, turn on Multirests in the score.
But we don't need to discuss this in multiple forums.

Re: How shift measures to the left
Turn on View: Handles.
Select this handle, just to the right of the beginning of the indented stave.
download/file.php?mode=view&id=1011
Reset Position.
You'll probably want to Select All then Unlock Format too.

You need Sibelius or Sibelius Ultimate to get 4 voices.

Don't know about Sibelius 5, but more current Sibelius versions have a Convert Simple Time To Compound Time plugin.

Re: Insert Measures BEFORE bar 1
Use the Add Pickup Bar plugin. Specify a full bar's worth of pickup. You'll get a new, empty bar at the front of the score, with attached objects such as Title Text conveniently moved to it. For further preliminary bars, select this new first bar then press Shift-Ctrl-B as many times as necessary. Y...

It's not intuitive! But the manual is clear. You don't really want me to copy out the manual for you, surely?

I suggest you forget about scanning lyrics. Too much correction needed even when the system works well. Later versions of Sibelius have an excellent system for pasting in lyrics using CTRL-V. Words for lots of stuff are easily found on the Internet (though you'll save time if you check them carefull...

I think you'll have to do it manually though. If you've tried both Photoscore's printed and handwritten options, and various scanning resolutions, there's little point in beating your head against a brick wall any further. Look for the patterns in the music. Copy/paste/repitch can save a lot of time.

I don't think PhotoScore cares about filetype as much as it does about resolution. Obviously choosing a dpi figure that matches the options in PS is sensible. I've always found PS a questionably useful application. It's quick and fairly accurate on simple material - but such material would be very q...

Julie's answer raises an interesting point. She chose Sibelius because it felt "intuitive", but she is "still learning new functions" - which therefore were not intuitive. I'm not a great believer in "intuitive". A program has to allow you a way in, but this idea that a complex application can be us...
