I'm having the exact same problem here. It was working fine last night, all of a sudden all my playback devices are missing.

Unless you need surround sound, I would recommend an external audio interface, like an M-audio Fast Track or Fast Track Pro. You'll be able to use it with a laptop down the road. There are also some midi keyboards with built in audio interfaces, so you could kill two birds with one stone.

Sounds like a good solution. I've been very happy with my Fast Track Pro.

You can also change with Create > Other > Instrument Change. This is useful if you want to change instruments in the middle of a piece.

Is your copy of Sibelius up to date (5.2)? If not, updating may solve your problem.

As far as printing to PDF on a PC, I recommend cutepdf. It's free, simple, and very good.
