Re: End of a system

2018.7 You are a Sibelius god! I really haven't had to import that many xml files and just jumped in and started looking for things that needed to be changed. I imagine all those steps you listed are in the 'manual'. I appreciate all of the time that you took to look at my score and provide such a d...

Re: End of a system

And now I see that in both trumpet parts that the key signature change in bar 95 is on the wrong side of the barline.

Are these oddities perhaps because I imported the XML file from an old finale file?

Thank

Re: End of a system

Thanks so much. I am attaching the file. The problem occurs in the clarinet 1 part at bar #95.

Again, thanks.

Re: End of a system

Thanks. I was hoping that was the answer, but no. Nothing happened.

Re: End of a system

Thanks for your suggestions. This was a clarinet part from a score and I had made some changes to layout including bars in a system around that bar. When I tried your suggestion it was a mess.

Then I exported the file and I was able to do as you suggested.

End of a system

When there is a key signature change followed by a double bar at the end of the system, there is extra space after the double bar. I am not sure if I explained that clearly. I am sending an attachment showing the problem.

Thanks.

Re: Position of Dynamics

Thanks, Mike. I had never used that before. It did a terrific job on most of the staffs.

It didn't work on the current tenor sax staff. I added a second tenor sax staff, copied everything from the old to the new. Then deleted the old and did the reset position on the new staff. Yeah.

Thanks so much

Re: Position of Dynamics

Since the file was an older FINALE file the dynamics and hairpins, etc. are not spaced well at all. My plan is to delete all the dynamics in this file and then enter them with Sibelius. Now I am thinking about adding another tenor sax staff and copying the contents of the current tenor sax part. The...

Position of Dynamics

I have a file for band that was originally input in FINALE. I switched to Sibelius quite some time ago and wanted to work on this in Sibelius. I exported it from FINALE and opened it in Sibelius (2018.7). For the most part it is very good, however I want to delete the dynamics and then re-add them i...

Re: Expressions are misplaced

I figured it out. I had been trying out different staff sizes, different space between staves and systems and that is when the expressions moved. What I ended up doing was creating a new blank file with the time signature, key signature and the instruments. Then I copied and pasted the contents of t...

Expressions are misplaced

I am notating a brass quartet. I have attached a forte dynamic to the first note for each instrument. It is placed too far to the left and there is a grayed forte in the correct place. Also there are several dynamics on the 2nd tpt that are too low but only in the first half of the piece. The rest a...

I certainly am happy, but confused. I opened the score that was so screwed up last night and it appears fine. I sure wish I knew what happened or if it was something I did that caused the problem.

Rearrange the order of the staves

I input a score for SATB, organ and strings. I put the choral parts at the top, then organ and then strings which I thought was a good idea. I entered everything, lyrics, articulations, slurs, etc. Then the composer asked me if I could put the strings at the top, then chorus, then organ. I went into...

Sibelius training

I am a longtime FINALE user but just bought Sibelius. I am having trouble getting the hang of Sibelius since it is so different from Finale. Does anyone have any books, classes, online training to help me learn it.
