Can't uninstall - can't open INSTALL.LOG

I have Sibelius 4 installed on my PC. I am trying to upgrade from Vista to Windows 7. When I try this it tells me that it can't because Sibelius may not transfer successfully, and that I must uninstall Sibelius. When I try to do this it brings up an error message saying "Could not open INSTALL.LOG f...

Getting an upgrade from Photoscore Lite v5.5

Hi, I got a copy of Photoscore Lite v5.5 which came with Sibelius 4. It's hopelessly unreliable, it crashes, hangs, gets stuck in loops, if you read pages in the wrong order there's no way to correct the order etc. etc. Is there a way of getting an upgrade to a more reliable version, without payiong...

Re: How do I change the instrument used to play back a staff

Sorry - I don't have Sib 5 so I can't tell you. Why do software companies so often break features that users like and need when they upgrade? Microsoft is always doing it. It's like they don't actually know how people use their software...

How to change the midi channel used to play each staff

Hi, Can someone tell me how to change the midi channel used for each staff in an exported midi file? What it seems to do by default is to put each staff on a different midi track in a midi type 1 file, but some of the information on different tracks (i.e. from different staves) use the same channel ...

How do I change the instrument used in midi files?

Hi, How do I change the instrument used to play each Midi channel in an exported Midi file? I don't want to change the score at all, or the names of the staves. So I want the staves still to be called Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass, but I want the midi file to play Clarinet, Oboe, English Horn and Ba...

Recording and playback of pipe organ music

I'm looking for a system that will allow me to record the music I play on a pipe organ, which may have up to four manuals plus pedals, including all the drawstop settings, so the music can later be played back on the same organ or a different one. I would like the music to be recorded as midi files....

Thanks - this works

That's exactly what I needed to know. Somehow using the mixer to control this seems counter-intuitive (to me). I would have expected the mixer to be something that happened at the tail end of the playback process. I certainly would not have expected mixer settings to be saved in a score file. But th...

How do I change the instrument used to play back a staff?

I'm using Sib 4 to create midi files for learning choral music. I have 4 staves labelled SOPRANO, ALTO, TENOR and BASS. When I play the music back using Sibelius or via an exported midi file, it uses a very imprecise mushy sound which is I suppose supposed to sound like a choir. This is far to indis...

Bar lines in just one staff disappeared

I'm relatively new to Sibelius. I'm creating a choral score with four staves per system. Everything is going well, except that all the barlines have disappeared on just the alto staff. They are OK in the other three staves. Sibelius knows where the bar boundaries are - it counts the beats per bar co...

Trouble with playback - some notes don't stop playing

I'm having trouble creating accurate midi files. I've done the following: - Scanned some music using Neuratron Photoscore Light. - Corrected the errors that were ciorrectable within Photoscore. - Saved the file. - Opened the file in Sibelius v4.1.5 (in Windows Vista). - Done further editing until th...
