You can open the pdf file in Photoscore and import it directly (at least if you have the full version). Takes about 5 minutes, no actual scanning required. Maybe a few errors to correct, but if you've used Sibelius you'll soon get the hang of it.
Sorry, I don't have time at the moment either!

Absolutely - a plug-in would be handy.

Re: Brackets over and under triplets
You can stop Photoscore putting brackets in tuplets by selecting Create > Tuplets and unticking the Format / Brackets box. You can then press the Apply format to all tuplets... box and they're gone, and won't appear in your transfers to Sibelius.

Re: unwanted Lines between Notation and Guitar tab
The lines are rhythm 'stems' that some people prefer to just fingering. You can use the 'no rhythms' [tab] option under the Guitars menu of Change or Add/Remove instruments to remove the lines.

Re: HYMNS don't work
Use Unlock format in the Layout menu when the score is transfered into Sibeilus to get the correct separation. Photoscore's layouts are sometimes incompatible with Sibelius' when there's a lot going on. You may then need to manually move things about if the original scanned layout is important.

Re: Page Margin Error, Staves Scrunched
Perhaps try Unlock Format for that page and Optimize staff spacing. This happens to me a lot with imported files (eg. Photoscore scans), and unlocking format as a first step has become second nature. You probably want to Lock Format afterwards, assuming this works. You can then fiddle with margins e...

Re: Instrument range for treble/alto recorder
Add to Family, perhaps? Sadly that didn't work either. Never mind, Sibelius 6 Essentials did work (had to re-install though), so thanks for suggesting that, and I can export the audio with all the notes.

Re: Instrument range for treble/alto recorder
Thanks for the reply Bob. Only just seen this now, I'm afraid. I think the octave is correct for the alto/treble recorder for playback, as the low and medium F's both play, but nothing below. The high E also plays, but not the F or anything else above that. I'll use the flute now as a workaround, or...

Instrument range for treble/alto recorder
Hello. Top F on the treble/alto recorder doesn't play (or export to audio) using Sibelius 7 Sounds. I've tried Edit Instrument Range to set the highest note to G (the default for treble recorder is D 6) for both comfortable and professional and this gets rid of the red notes, but they still refuse t...

Well, Sibelius does, at least version 5 and upwards do, and 4 too as far as I know.

Re: notes missing from scan
Both Sibelius and Photoscore and Sibelius are on versions 7 now, so I imagine vastly improved from what you have installed. You can get both from the Sibelius/Avid website . You'll get an updated version of Photoscore lite with Sibelius. Still not perfect but it's getting better all the time. Check ...

Re: Exporting from Sibelius First (6) to earlier version
Is there an Export option under the File menu? I have the full version of Sib 6 which has that option from which one can export to Sib 5, but I don't know if that differs in Sibelius First. Sorry if this doesn't help! You should be able to open your students' Sibelius 5 files in version 6 in any case.

Re: Can I transferret a Pianosong in mp3/wav to notes?
Audioscore from Neuratron (the Photoscore people) is supposed to do this, but as mentioned falls woefully short. Trans 'ferret' would be a very apt description of what it does! Anyhow I think you can download a free trial version if you want to give it a try.

Re: Page breaks mid bar?
Page break - select the bar line where you want the break and hit CTRL and ENTER (you can remove the break in the same way) Line break = System break - hit ENTER at the bar line. If you actually want the break in the middle of a bar, you'd probably have to rewrite the bar as two bars with appropriat...
