Re: Sibelius 7 Mac Version
I see that you have asked this question on the Avid site. That is the best place to get an answer for your type of problem. Be patient and try to state your needs clearly and they will come up with an answer. It may be possible that Sibelius did not install properly.

Re: Adding an instrument, available in all scores
As I understand it, you can't add a new instrument to the list.
Finish editing the new instrument. Export as a House Style. Import that House Style into any new score. Page 658 in the Sib 7 manual has information on this. Other versions of Sibelius should work the same.

Re: Digital Mixing from Sibelius
Well, I guess I'm not understanding the problem. What I have done in the past is to create my accompaniment in Sibelius, import the wave file into a recording program, then add a vocal. The final mix is done in the recording program, but I can only balance the two sources. If you need to control ind...

Re: Digital Mixing from Sibelius
What version of Sibelius are you using? What are you trying to do that the Sibelius mixer won't? What effects are you wanting to use that are not in Sibelius already? Sibelius can export your music as a midi or xml file that you should be able to open in pro tools. But as far as volume goes, write y...

Re: Sibelius fails to start File permissions problem
Sibelius installs a 32 and 64 bit version. The 32 bit version is in Computer/(drive where Sib is installed)/Program files (x86)/Avid/Sibelius 7/Sibelius exe. The 64 bit version is in Computer/(drive where Sib is installed)/Program files/Avid/Sibelius 7/ Sibelius exe. Right click the desktop icon for...

Re: Creating Insane Tuplet
I don't think you can make a 36 note tuplet in 6/8. I guess you could by constructing a special measure (say like 36/32 time signiture, then hide it) adding your 36 notes and lableing a special bracket. Playback would not be correct unless you adjusted the tempo. If playback is you goal, it would be...

You could re-label the cymbal "Suspended Cymbal".

In Document Setup, you can reduce the default 7mm staff size untill the music is on one page.

I believe each voice on the staff can only have one sound, as far as playback goes.

Re: notation "half note equals quarter note"
It seems better to me to always use metronome markings for any beginning tempo or tempo change. I've never used the standard "cut time" symbol, so I don't know how it works. So, if my starting tempo is 60 bpm and I want to go into half time, the marking is 120. If you've never used metronome setting...

Re: Create a new symbol from fonts
I'm not sure it can be done from within Sibelius. Sibelius 7 (and I think 6, also) can import graphics to be used as symbols. If you create your symbol in a graphics program (Paint should do it) you should be able to import it. I've never done it, though. Check your manual. Good luck.

I haven't either. You can download the Sound Set Editor free from the Sibelius web site. It's made for Sib 5 but folks say it often works with later versions.

Re: Notation not exporting correctly
Try turning off Live Playback in the play tab. If you ever worked with this file in midi format, there may be midi instructions fouling things up. It would be nice for me to see your sib file, but I'm not sure how to do that here. Also, in Preferences/playback make sure 128 channels is selected. And...
