Re: how to change the width of a measure
Hi, you can simply drag that F over to the right, or use the Inspector (Ctrl + Shift + I) to increase the X offset. But you probably would be better off going back to the original bar width and dragging the F over to the right to change the bar width before adding your hairpin etc. Sibelius won't au...

Re: Selecting individual lyric lines from multiple lines
Try using Optimise on those squashed lines, or the whole score possibly also with Unlock format. It will probably still not be perfect and you may have to move thigs around and assign different Lyric lines to the result, but should go some way to sorting things out.

Re: Selecting individual lyric lines from multiple lines
Hi, it's not a basic question at all. Although Sibelius can handle multiple lyric lines (verses) quite well, Photoscore only allows the one, so the transfer to Sibelius merges them all into Lyric Line 1, despite the appearence in the score. There's no easy way round this, but luckily, someone has wr...

Re: Printing a page
Make sure your staff rulers are showing in your score by Ctrl + Alt + Shift + R Go to File > Print and tick the View Options box (the staff rulers should show up in the Print preview) Print as normal To 'print' this to a pdf file you can set the 'Printer' to a pdf creator software (such as cute pdf)...

Re: Versions of Composition - can they be made editable?
That's great JM, glad you found the path. I think the Backup Scores folder is by default located under your default "Saving Scores" folder, or Auto Saving folder. These can be found under File > Preferences > Saving and Exporting. Btw by 'full registered program' of course I wasn't suggesting you we...

Re: Versions of Composition - can they be made editable?
Assuming you have the full registered program, your versions in the Backup Scores folder should be editable like any other score. They certainly are on my Windows installation. Perhaps it's another problem with Mac/El Capitain version. In which case you should run this by the Official Sibelius Help ...

Re: Finlandia playback opening-loading
Afraid I don't know, it looks like Tip of the Day may have been discontinued from Sibelius 7. I still have it on my Sibelius 6 installation however, only just noticed it on the Start up screen.

Re: Sibelius 7 Note entry
Use the Inspector: select the dotted quarter note, Right click > Inspector (or Ctrl + Shift + I), put a negative value in the X box (e.g. -1.5), adjust finely using the Up and Down arrows.

Re: Random Number Above Simile/Repeat Mark
It's the number of the repeat bar after the original repeated bar, a sort of visual cue.
To turn off numbering go to Appearance > Engraving Rules > Bar Rests and untick the Numbering 1-bar repeats... box

Re: Can Sibelius play simply entered chord symbols?
You can use the Plugin called Realize chord symbols which adds a new instrument (Piano or Guitar) and fills in the notes from the chord text. I don't think Sibelius plays chords from symbols directly as such.

Re: Hiding cautionary time signatures after final barlines
Not sure from your post if you have done, but have you run the Cautionary Time Signatures Plugin (in 'Other' category) on the whole score, unticking Use cautionary... box before pressing OK. I use this all the time on all sorts of scores and haven't come across a case where it didn't work. May have ...

Assuming Sibelius 7
1. Select passage and go to Layout > Hide empty staves
2. Go to Appearance > Engraving rules > Bar Rests > Repeat Bars. Untick Number 1-bar repeat bars...
It's all in the reference manual.

Re: nudging a crotchet rest to the left
If you mean 'cautionary' naturals, which occur in a bar after an 'accidental' sharp or flat of the note in question, you can change this (default) behaviour in Appearance > Engraving Rules > Accidentals and Dots. Under Cautionary Accidentals untick the first box (Show cautionary accidentals...etc). ...
