Re: Aligning bars and bar lines to make them completely parallel

Just a suggestion, but maybe have a play around with the plugin called Proportional Note Spacing (under Plugins > Layout). Seems to work well with a single time signature, especially if you can remove that time signature, or place a dummy time sig at the start of each line. Not sure if you can get i...

Re: How to make several short staffs in 1 line?

As Mike says, there are various ways to do things like this. You can select a bar line and drag it left or right. Bar lines are hidden before the clef sign, but it's still there and selectable. Or for more precision use the Inspector (Ctrl Shift I) on a bar line, look for Gap before bar at the botto...

Re: Advanced note join settings

Beaming in Sibelius can be a little unsatisfactory. I don't think you can do this by default in Sibelius, I've tried various grouping options in Time Signatures but it seems the quaver rest always messes up the beaming. However, there is a plugin that will do this, called " Beam 3 Eighths in Common ...

Re: Guitar Chords with Doubled Notes

Could you drag the end of the sticking-up stems to the bottom of the beam? if you click the top of the stem you should get a little square 'handle' that you can drag up or down. You may want to zoom in to see properly. Bit of a fudge, but it's hard to tell from that picture exactly what's going on h...

Re: Key Signature change

Assuming you have the start repeat bar line in place, and the key signature before that has 2 flats: (if it doesn't I'm stumped as to why this would be needed!) Select the repeat barline Go to key signatures (press K) Select a KS with no sharps or flats That should do it. The double bar line should ...

Re: way to notate arpeggios across staves

That's the way I've always notated chords across a grand staff (usually a final chord), and I've certainly seen this notation in printed scores. It seems to give reasonable results in playback. Not being much of a keyboard player I'm not completely sure, but when I've handed them out to someone who ...

Re: Key Signature change

Go to Appearance > Engraving Rules > Clefs and Key Signatures and tick Cautionary naturals on the right hand side. Of course, this is all or nothing, and wlll apply to any key change in your score. Just noticed, you might want to Reset Note Spacing for that bar, as the extra natural can push the sha...

Re: Shifting selection forward one beat

The simplest way (probably) is to cut and paste the remaining notes, word processor style. Select the first note you want move with the mouse, hold Shift and click on the last note to select all remaining notes (they should all turn blue), Ctrl X to copy and remove them to the clipboard, then paste ...

Re: Please Help!

Use voices (see "Using voices" in the Reference Manual). You'll need to add that dotted quaver in a different 'voice' from the semiquavers. You can change voices in the Keypad (View > Panels > Keypad). There are four coloured voices available by pressing the 1-4 at the bottom of the keypad. Say you'...

Re: Adding a double barline in measure

You can select the note(s) after the double bar line and use the Inspector (Shift Ctrl I) to shift the X position away from the bar line. Something like X=2 looks ok in the little example I tried. There may of course be other (better) ways to do this however.

Re: About slurs, again

I guess Sibelius still counts rests as notes, hence they can technically be slurred. If you select all the slurred notes, holding the Shift button. then press delete, the slurs will go. To remove all slurs within a measure or measures, select the measure(s), so they all turn light blue, then go to H...

Re: Guitar Strummer Plugin?

The Strummer plugin ships with Sibelius 7.5.1 and you should find it under Play > Plugins. If it's missing for some reason you could try downloading it from the Sibelius plugins webpage or via File > Plugins. I tried Strummer ages ago without much success, then gave it up. Hopefully if you persist y...

Re: Export from Photoscore/Import into Sibelius causes key signature to change

Also, try to make sure your score is as good as it can be in Photoscore before sending to Sibelius. Clear all bad timing errors, make sure notes are all present and correct and in the right voice, clefs, time signatures, dynamics, bar lines etc. Basically everything. PS can make a lot of mistakes, e...
