Re: Instrument range for treble/alto recorder

Remember the final step of Edit Instrument is to return the edit to family, or something like that. Then it is only for that score.

Re: assigning noteheads

Assigning noteheads is slightly different between versions. which Sibelius are you using?

In 7 it is done from the Notations tab.

Re: Weird saving behaviour?

Auto save location is somewhere else in App Data I think. The location in the box is where Sib should save the scores you are working on. If that is not the case, it might be worth clicking the SET button below the box and re-entering where you want scores saved. Just out of curiosity, How does Sibe...

Re: Weird saving behaviour?

I guess the place to start would be to check in Preferences to see what is set up as the default save location. In Sib 7, Preferences is under the File tab. Probably a similar place in 6. If not, let me know and I'll fire up my Sib 6 computer and try to find it.
What are your computer specs?

Re: Upgrading Sib 6 academic version to sib7

As far as I know, the version of Sibelius you bought is the same as any other version. You just got a teachers discount. As did my wife. I was able to ungrade our version of Sibelius OK. Sibelius 7 sounds take 35 gb of hard drive space. If you only have 70 gb left, remember computers don't like runn...

Re: Spacial/ Graphic score keeps crashing sib 6

That's pretty big for a sib file. The only thing I can think of is if you have some cloud storage system like Dropbox to get it to me. Short of that, what was the last thing you added before things started crashing? You might consider using some kind of graphic software instead of Sibelius. Music fo...

Re: Spacial/ Graphic score keeps crashing sib 6

I can open Sib 6 files in 7. Post it and I'll give it a go. Although crashes may have more to do with your system than with Sibelius.

Re: Boxed Notes

If you are trying to set these notes apart for some reason, maybe try making them a different color instead. Otherwise, create a box in something like Gimp (free) and imort it in to Sibelius.
The color idea might make your visual score more fun.

Re: Spacial Notation, lining notes up on the barline

I forgot that the note I got to line up on the bar line was not a note entered from the keypad, but a Symbol. I think right-click on the score will bring up a menu that has Symbol in it. These notes you can put anywhere, but they will not playback(as they are symbols not notes). That may be as good ...

Re: Spacial Notation, lining notes up on the barline

In Sib 7 there is a Magnetic Layout button that needs to be turned off. Then you can put notes on barlines. I imagine there is something similar in 6. If you are using 6 let me know and I'll fire up my old computer and try to fine it.

Re: cajon notation and assigning sounds

Your very welcome. You should be able to add a line in the same edit instrument menu. Then go to edit staves and add your sound. Glad it worked. Sibelius won't save this new instrument for use in other scores unless you save it as a House Style. I've never done this. It will save it for the score yo...

Re: Spacial Notation, lining notes up on the barline

Correct me if I'm wrong, but a bar line does not exist in time. It is a graphic that separates measures. The beats before or after are what we count. Bar lines are not really necessary, and have not always been around in music history. What beat is the bar line, and how would you as a director tell ...

Re: Instrument range for treble/alto recorder

Are you sure playback is in the correct octave for the alto? I seem to remember some question about this. For the score you might need the part in one octave but for playback you needed it in another octave. I think playback is correct in Sib 6. If you ever had 6 and still do, you can use 6 sounds i...
