Re: Sib 7: can i scale down the size of just one part?
You can change a stave to a 'small staff' in Add or Remove, and if necessary decrease the note sizes on that staff by selecting (triple clicking) the whole stave and selecting cue size on the keypad. Not sure about then freeing up more space for the other parts, but presumably you'd use a combinatio...

Re: Selecting only certain instruments to be played back / s
The Rescore option in Photoscore (Notes > Rescore) allows you to select different instruments/staves, which in theory you could use to create an accompaniment-only version. I say 'in theory' as I've always found this function to be very buggy, even in the latest Photoscore 7. In general, as soon I g...

Re: Deleting an entire measure
How about just deleting the bar line and notes? And a manual tidy up (or a rescore).
(This is in Photoscore I take it, and not Sibelius where the Ctrl Click method mentioned above would work).

Re: 4 part harmony
Are your parts in different 'voices' on the same stave? Eg. Soprano = voice 1 (blue), alto = voice 2 (green). Then you could apply a filter first by Edit > Filter > Voices > Voice 1 (or Voice 2) before pressing X. If they're in the same voice (ie. all notes are blue or green etc) you might have to m...

Select notes, and choose Flip from the Edit menu. Or press X as the shortcut.

Re: Deleting Pickup measure
This might help - drag the title up the page a bit, and drag any tempo, time signature markings etc over to the first non-pickup bar. Then select the pickup bar and go to delete bars from the menu. That worked for one of my scores when the title was deleted by choosing the first or all parts. The in...

Re: Insert empty string sign
Assuming you have Sibelius 6:
Select note, from the menu bar go to Create > Text > Other Staff Text > Fingering, then type in the number 0 for an open string.

Hi, if you go to View > Panorama and drag the end of the squiggly line to before the end of the previous bar, this removes the offending (tr) sign when you go back to normal view. Panorama view is great for getting rid of a lot of unwanted markings that can crop up on a page. Anyway, hope that's wha...

Re: Realize Figured Bass Plugin
Ok, I read on the 'official' forum that there were problems, no one to fix it and hence it was unplugged in Sib 6. Shame.

Realize Figured Bass Plugin
Hi. Does anyone know why the Realize Figured Bass Plugin was removed from Sibelus 6 (and presumably onwards) - was it really that bad? Or perhaps it would put score arrangers out of a job. I was going to give it a try having read a Sibelius 5 guide, as I've quite a few scores with unfigured bass, on...

Re: Rant about the Ribbon, and about Sibelius in general...
Must admit I don't like this ribbon at all either. Hopefully this can be addressed in a (not too distant) future upgrade for Sibelius 7. Either that or maybe they could provide the ability to 'turn off' the ribbon and use a 'classic menu view' instead. Meanwhile I'm glad to still be able to use Sibe...

Re: Sibelius 6 will only write scores in sharp keys
Seems to work OK for me, eg. I just changed a score from D minor to F minor with no problems. Are you using the latest build of Sib 6 (6.2.0 I think)?

From memory (as I'm at work) if you select something in the bar after which you want to insert more bars, then choose Create > Bar from the menu then either Single or Other and the number of bars you want. Or use Alt B. This is with Sibelius 6. You shouldn't need to select bars to the end of the sco...
