Re: Corrupted file help

And don't rely on any form of automatic backup, in any software! Manually back up your data to a separate drive, preferably an external one that you can disconnect when not in use, or to the cloud. And do so regularly. You can always reinstall an app or even an operating system. It's a pain if you h...

Re: Activation interruptions after moving to a new macbook pro

You can't 'move' Sibelius. First, I'm assuming that you're installing on Windows. If you're trying to install on a Mac, forget it. You would have to upgrade to the latest version of Sibelius Ultimate for that. You must perform a clean install of Sibelius, making sure you've erased any traces of a pr...

Re: Metronome Marking appears twice!

Mac or Windows? Operating system version? Version and tier of Sibelius being used? Any or all may have a bearing on this.

Re: Score Resize (after) Removing Instruments

I can't immediately help you on this. There are only 3 of us answering questions on this unofficial site and I don't know if the other two will know, so you should ask on the official Sibelius chat page.

Re: Sibelius 7 reinstall query

You can install from your disks with no problem - don't forget to download and install the update to 7.1.3 and the update to the 7.12 Sibelius Sounds library. You will not be able to deactivate Sibelius 7 or reactivate the new installation on line. You can raise a case with Avid support. Explain wha...

Re: how to change instrument playback

There is no such thing as Sibelius Free. I assume that you mean Sibelius First, the free to use version. This version is so cut down that it's almost useless. It's quite possible that the rename feature simply isn't in the free version. If so, a workaround would be to create a new staff with the des...

And if you're going to use Flexitime (best of luck with that!), then search on line for 'taming the Flexitime beast'. Best tutorial out there!

Re: odd playback issue

'...using MIDI...' Do you mean you want Sibelius to drive an external sound source, or a third party virtual instrument? Either way, you may need to set up a Soundset to make this work. And you may have to jiggle around the settings in the mixer so that Sibelius does choose and use the correct sounds.

Re: Activation interruptions after moving to a new macbook pro

If you're having issues after migrating, then that may be the only solution.

You might like to ask for advice on the official Sibelius Chat Page as well as this unofficial site.

Re: Volume on Playback

Use the Mixer - all explained in great detail in the manual. Ctrl-Alt-M.

While you're reading, look up Live Playback as that also affects things!

Re: Activation interruptions after moving to a new macbook pro

You don't/can't migrate licences. Sibelius will think you're trying to run a cloned copy. Deactivate and re-activate correctly. TBH, the whole migration idea is fraught with potential issues. All you need to do is deactivate on old machine, do a clean install on the new one and then activate that. F...

Re: Location of Sibelius program files and Sibelius Sounds

Answered on the official forum. (As you're there, you don't need to bother with this unofficial site!)

Your files are in the correct locations. The correct sounds are there - called Sibelius 7 Sounds. There are no 'new' sounds.

Re: Language setting greyed out, languages mixed up

I'm sure you've read Robin Walker's reply: The language of text in the user-interface is: (a) partly dependent on the current user-interface language configured in Preferences; and (b) partly dependent on the Manuscript Paper from which the score currently being edited was created, which will depend...

Re: Which laptop?

If you don't want to buy Ultimate, get Musescore 4, which is more powerful and feature rich than either of the two lower tiers of Sibelius. And it's free. Not entirely bug-free yet, but getting there fast, with free updates of course. But your signature says you already have Sib 8. If so, use that. ...

Ah, that makes sense!

"Rost in transration" as some of my Japanese friends would jokingly tell me when translating Japanglish! :)
