Why can't I assign MIDI channels to staves?

This is such a basic feature that I would assume Sibelius (pre-Avid) would have put this in here. I'm scratching my head over this one:

I have setup a VST instrument (I guess AU in this case since it's open in Sibelius) :

All channels within the instrument are set to Channel 1 :

Why then is this area greyed out, I can't assign the top track to channel 1 within Kontakt 4? I just don't get this, it's so simple...

Sib isn't a DAW and has its own unique way of working with VSTi's. A very good read (or two or three......) of sections 4.14 and 4.15 of the Reference and viewing a few of the blogs about this subject is the way to go. Soundsets are required for seamless operation and I'm not the expert in this. All I can do us point you in the right direction. It can be done - I'm told! :)

Hi andyg, it's been some time. I so wish that someone could create a good video tutorial on Sibelius' sound capabilities and soundset creation. Sort of "Sibelius Audio 101 - Everythink you need to know"
