Q: How do I get sibelius to print a tilde character? I understand that tilde is used to precede midi commands...so how do escape it? Perhaps a better solution would have been to have a special kind of MIDI text that doesn't print, rather than allowing midi messages in any kind of text.

I am trying to use tilde to represent a rubato tempo (i.e. "q ~ 100" instead of "q = 100").

There is a small tilde character (Alt+0152) which you can use. If it's too small, you can always have a larger size just for that character by using the Properties Window > Text
