We have a five-pack license for Sibelius 2 at my school. We recently took advantage of the free upgrade to Sibelius 3. So I installed Sibelius 3 on Mac OS X, then tried to run it. Version 3 is supposed to ask where your valid, registered copy of Sibelius 2 is, and then transfer the license to v.3. Except that it doesn't work that way. When I browse to the *registered* copy of v.2, v.3 tells me that it's not a registered copy! And calling tech support was a waste of time; they didn't help us.
It's because of the ridiculous "registration" requirements of Sibelius that keep me using my old Finale at home. I refuse to pay my hard-earned money to put up with the hoops Sibelius wants me to jump through just to use their software!
How to improve Sibelius? Easy. Trust the users, and get rid of the registration process that just doesn't work.
