Sibelius beginners can discuss all things Sibelius here ("how do I...?").

When I play back a song I've written (piano & vocal) I have no idea how to regulate the volume. Sometimes the vocal is nice and loud, but the piano is too quiet. Sometimes the piano is loud but I can hardly ear the vocal. How should I adjust the volume so it's all pretty much the same?
Many thanks for any help!
Tom

Use the Mixer - all explained in great detail in the manual. Ctrl-Alt-M.

While you're reading, look up Live Playback as that also affects things!

Do you have a compressor?

There are things called dynamics that musicians use to change the loudness. They have the advantage that they only affect the part of the music where you want them to, whereas the mixer affects the whole file from beginning to end.
Use Expression text ([ctrl/cmd]e) to place them in the music. There are quite a few of them so you can be subtle about it. Using Expression text press and hold [ctrl/cmd] and the following letter combinations: pp, p, mp, mf, f, ff.
For these to work properly, you need to turn off sibelius' interpretation functions. Set playback to meccanico.
For more information, look it up in the online manual.
