Increasing/decreasing bars on Parts

Sibelius beginners can discuss all things Sibelius here ("how do I...?").

If I look at an extracted part and decide there are to many or too little bars on a staff, how do I decrease or increase them to make to part read better?

Why is it so difficult to find simple things like that in Sibelius?

Thanks

You control the number of bars in a system in the parts in exactly the same way as you do in the score - use system breaks. Click on a barline where you want to start a new line and press Return. (Use Shift-Return for a new page).

Usually, if you want more bars, click in the next system where you want a system break and the music will shrink back; if it doesn't, you're probably trying to cram too much in. You can force more bars onto a line by selecting all the bars you want and using Layout > Format > Make into System.

If you find system breaks you don't want, click on the barline and press Return again.

It really isn't all that difficult. And you can often control these things in advance by careful use of Multiple Parts Appearance in the Parts Window.
