Metronome and MIDI

Sibelius beginners can discuss all things Sibelius here ("how do I...?").

Hi to everyone out there in the Sibelius-World,
as a newbie I dare to ask your attention for one question I've got about Sibelius und MIDI.
I'm using Sibelius on a HP NX7000 -Laptop which is connected to a Digital Piano (Kawai CA-7) via a USB-Midi-Connector; in the devices-settings of Sibelius the USB-Connector is set as the device and MIDI-through is activated.. The problem I have is this extremely annoying metronome-sound that drives me nuts!! It is not a rythm-sound, but some kind of instrument-sound, although the Mixer-Setting shows the woodblock-instruments. It makes recording with flexitime almost impossible, you can't concentrate on the things you really want to play and record.
When I remember right I also tried to set the soundcard or the kontakt player as device which resulted in latency-problems.
I did not have that problem when I used Sibelius on my PC which has a Creative Soundcard installed, so I suppose this is the source of the error. Or is it due to the fact that the Kawai CA-7 does not have any drum sounds? Is there any workaround that I could try? Can I somehow import that kind of sound?
I appreciate any suggestion!!!

I am experiencing the same exact situation you have described but with a Yamaha P120. I wish somebody could address it.

Found these suggestions among other posts on this board:

* There's a button marked "CLICK" under the NOTES...FLEXITIME Option menu that lets you set up the metronome paraemters.

* Make sure you have the settings right - e.g. check MIDI THROUGH etc in the Devices dialog and make sure the mixer has the click track set to Chanel 10 for normal MIDI devices and is not MUTE or turned down or anything of that nature.

If your keyboard does not have a drum patch, you will need to change the channel of the Click to something other than 10 and choose a suitable patch. 115 is a good one. It will play 'notes' on a woodblock instead of beats, but you quickly get used to that..

* If you are using a soft synth (e.g. Kontakt Player or Microsoft SW Wavetable synth) there are latency issues which would account for the delay. You really need to use a separate soundcard or external sounds for flexitime. Perhaps you need to do input using your piano's own sounds, rather than instrumental sounds.

* You may also need to set the flexibility to "None" (in Notes > Flexitime Options). Otherwise Sibelius tries to follow your beat, and might be slowing down to wait for you - and then you slow down to wait for it!

* Install an "Asio" driver for the sound card.
