Creating instruments

When you add an instrument to a piece of music it adds it to every bar. Is it possible to add an instrument to just a few bars instead of the whole song?

create - other - ossia
or
create - instrument - all instruments - other - treble staff hidden (then show bars as needed
or
create - other - instrument change
These are the only 3 ways I know.

Create a stave for the instrument and use 'Hide Empty Staves'.

You can also highlight all the bars where you don't want the instrument to appear, go up to "Layout" and click on "Hide Empty Staves."

Can't figure out a way to Say show some ossia then have the ossia hide for a few bars and then reappear.
