How to partially hide an Stave?

Sibelius beginners can discuss all things Sibelius here ("how do I...?").

Hello,

I'm working on contemporary music and I wish to hide one Stave because I have to add text.

Please, look at the attached picture.
I need to hide just the part of the Stave which is enclosed in the blue square.

Thanks!!!

You can use an Instrument Change. Select the passage and use Create > Other > Instrument Change. From the available instruments choose All Instruments then in 'Family' choose Others (you may need to scroll down). From here you can choose No Instrument (hidden).

That's the bare bones; for more details see Instrument Changes in Section 2.18 of the Sibelius 6 Reference (Section 2.14 for Sibelius 5).

If you are going to do a lot of this, there are some more sophisticated techniques. For instance, you might find these two tutorials interesting:

I agree with this answer

Hi, I have a similar situation where I need to hide a staff for a short period of time. I tried the method described here, however, it did not work for me. I selected the passage, chose to create a "no instrument (hidden), and then clicked OK, but it made no changes to the score. Do you have any idea what I could be doing wrong that would prevent this method from working?

Maybe I'm reading too much into the wording of your question, but you don't create the hidden instrument. Rather, you use an Instrument Change (Create > Other > Instrument Change)
