Sibelius beginners can discuss all things Sibelius here ("how do I...?").

Hello! I'm new at Sibelius and I've got two questions:
1. Is Sibelius 6 Professional exactly the same as Sibelius 6 Educational? Is the price the only difference?
2. If the answer to the 1st question is NO, then I'd like to know if I can use the Educational one with a Garritan sound library.

Thanks a lot!

There are three Sibelius products:

Sibelius Student (cut-down version, will work well on its own, but particularly useful for students who have access to the full version of Sibelius at school or college). Available in the UK and some other countries.

Sibelius First (cut-down but entirely stand-alone version). You can purchase this as a download from Avid as well as a 'shrink-wrap'.

Sibelius (currently Sibelius 6).

The last-named has a full price (astronomical, but worth every penny) and a special quite generous discount for full-time music students, school/college music teachers and some other categories. This Educational Pricing is only a discount on the price, and the program is identical. If you qualify for Educational pricing, then you can pay the lower price and still do everything that can be done with Sibelius.

To find out if you qualify (though I imagine you might already know that) look at:

http://www.sibelius.com/products/index.html or
http://www.sibelius.com/buy
and look for the Educational Pricing link.

If you are interested in knowing about the differences between full Sibelius (Pro or Educational) and the less complete ('cut down') products, there are comparisons at:
