Sibelius doesn't make it easy to enter foreign text, the German ß (estset), for example. The Mac's character palette isn't any easier. Entering lyrics for a strophic song with 6 verses can be a nightmare. The easy way is to use a foreign keyboard. Go to System Preferences>Keyboard>Input Sources. Click on the plus sign in the lower left. Select the language keyboard you want and click on Add. Check "Show input menu in menu bar." From the dropdown menu that now appears in the menu bar, select the keyboard you want and click on "Show Keyboard Viewer". The selected keyboard will appear on the desktop and remain on top. Note that some keys, like the hyphen on the German keyboard (really important in lyrics), may be in different places than on the American English keyboard, and some keys, like the exclamation point, may be missing altogether. But going back and adding those later with a different keyboard is still way easier than using Sibelius' keystroke combinations (which don't include all characters, like the ß). When you're finished, select your usual keyboard from the dropdown menu and tell it to "Hide Keyboard Viewer". :D
