I have just downloaded Sibelius First and there is no play sounds. All other sounds work, however when I go to the configuration of Playback Devices, there are none listed... any suggestions?

Have you downloaded and installed the sounds themselves? If not, do! It's a very big download for the Sibelius 7 or 8 sounds, so put the kettle on or go and have dinner while you wait.

It is normal for a software such a Sibelius to separate the soundfont from the software itself. The higher the quality of the soundfont, the heavier. And Sibelius has good sounds.
