Anyone know how to do the following? Above my piano score, I want to say, in parentheses, that two eighth notes should be played as a dotted eighth and a sixteenth. It's a common instruction, I see it all the time on sheet music. Anyone know how to make that happen? If so, please explain step by step because I'm just a beginner. Thanks so much for your help! --Tom

What you're trying to do is add a Metric Modulation. The way to do this varies in different Sibelius versions and you haven't told us what you have. So to save time, just look that phrase up in the Sibelius Reference for your version, or do a search for it on here or the official Sibelius forum. (It's been discussed over and over again!) A standard parenthesis at the start and end are simply typed in as usual - but it's not really necessary to use parentheses, unless you're indicating that the the metric modulation is an editorial addition. In which case you should consider using square brackets instead of parentheses.

Or in staff text, write Swing.
