I tried the same but it did not work. It was showing Error.

If it is showing the error again and again then I think you should switch it with another software. It would be fine for you.

IF you have set preferences to eight notes, selecting note input of any note value and hovering the cursor over (for example) beat 2.5, left click should put your note in the proper place. If not, undo and move the cursor a small amount and try again. If there is an error, we need to know the text of the error. An error means you have other problems.
